Se repérer en ville

To ask for and give the location of a public facility, the following patterns are used:
- Où se trouve la mairie ? (Where is the town hall?)
- C’est à côté du parc. (It’s next to the park.)
- Traversez le pont et prenez la première rue à gauche.
- L’hôpital est juste après le feu.

These constructions combine the imperative form of movement verbs with the prepositions of place studied previously.

Examples

Pour aller à la banque, vous traversez la place et vous continuez tout droit.
The imperative traversez and continuez give directions.
Il y a un distributeur automatique en face de la mairie.
The expression en face de indicates a position opposite the town hall.
