Plural Possessors

Possessive adjectives for singular possessors (mon, ton, son and their feminine and plural variants) are covered in possessive adjectives: singular subjects. The present lesson introduces the forms used when the possessor is plural: notre (our), votre (your, formal or plural), and leur (their). These adjectives agree only in number with the noun that follows; they do not distinguish masculine from feminine in the singular.

Differences from Singular Possessor Forms

The singular forms notre, votre, and leur serve for both masculine and feminine nouns: notre maison (feminine), notre appartement (masculine).

The plural forms add -s: nos livres, vos amis, leurs cahiers.

There is no special vowel rule: notre amie remains notre, unlike the singular possessor pattern where ma becomes mon before a vowel.
