Writing Dates
The standard date format is le + number + month + year: le 14 juillet 2025 (14 July 2025).
For the first day of the month, the ordinal premier is used instead of the numeral un: le premier mai (1 May).
To ask the date: Quelle est la date aujourd'hui ? – Aujourd'hui, c'est le 5 mars.
Examples
- Nous avons un cours le lundi et le mercredi.Recurring days use the definite article le before the day.
- Mon anniversaire est le 22 août.Date format with day before month.
- En été, il fait beau.Season with preposition en.
